Regional Program Coordinator

JASS Southeast Asia is the regional anchor and network of JASS*, an international women’s rights organization dedicated to strengthening the voice, visibility and collective power of women for justice. We are looking an energetic and skilled Program Coordinator with at least 5-7 years of experience in program coordination for regional and/or international social justice organizations. This is a great opportunity for a Southeast Asian feminist who is excited to contribute their project management savvy and passion for women’s rights to a growing program and team.

ROLE:

Guided by the Regional Co-Directors, the Program Coordinator of JASS Southeast Asia will be responsible for day-to-day coordination of key priorities and deliverables,  ensuring that relationships, programs and donor deadlines are on track. The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience in coordinating highly collaborative and fast-paced team processes and is comfortable navigating shifting priorities in response to opportunities and challenges. We seek an effective communicator who is extremely organized, accountable, and flexible in taking on whatever task is necessary to for ensuring the team and program’s success. Experience with resource mobilization, including proposal and report writing is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the timely implementation of key projects, processes and deliverables related to program and activities, knowledge priorities, resource mobilization, and M+E to ensure smooth, efficient and collaborative processes; support financial staff in regards reports to donors and budgeting for JASS SEA’s program and activities;
  • Backstop country-level processes as needed in Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, and the Philippines, including ensuring adequate preparation, logistics, follow up, and documentation of activities and events;
  • Serve as grants manager including tracking and coordinating donor deadlines and deliverables, ensuring quality monthly regional reports and feed-in to global reports (integrating M&E).
  • Support the ability of JASS Southeast Asia and JASS global to leverage new funding opportunities including by mapping regional donors and tracking donor communication, staying abreast of funding opportunities and researching calls for proposals; Contribute to good quality donor proposals including drafting and editing;
  • At times, represent JASS SEA and involve other regional team members and JASS SEA community in representing JASS in the region at important events or policy spaces and among a wide variety of people and organisations who are potential allies and donors.

Skills and qualities:

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience as a Coordinator in a regional and/or global social justice organisation dedicated to women’s rights, human rights, environmental justice, LGBT or resource rights and / or social movements and related issues; direct experience with organizing and political activism
  • A degree in social and political sciences; women’s studies, human rights, economics, development, or the environment
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up clear processes and coordinating teams around tight deadlines and multiple priorities; and in promoting teamwork in a multigenerational, multicultural context where everyone contributes;
  • Ability to take ownership, problem-solve, and propose solutions as well as comfort communicating when you need guidance  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and proven ability to operate across virtual teams in a regional or global organization where regular email and video/audio platforms (e.g. Skype, Zoom, Wire) is paramount;
  • Demonstrated proposal and report-writing skills
  • Experience drafting budgets for regional projects and initiatives;
  • Experience in organising and facilitating training/capacity building activities a plus;
  • Able to travel within the region and globally as needed
  • A sense of humor!
