Brief Discussion

On 11 February 2017, SEA Junction organized a public lecture on “Art and Activism in Singapore”. Singaporean artist Seelan Palay spoke on his process as an artist and activist responding to the socio-political context of Singapore and the concerns and complex conditions found in our present-day, globalized society. Seelan started his lecture by introducing his previous art works and its concept and reason behind each work, and in the final, he presented his video about his activism in Myanmar which aimed to emphasize how art and the freedom of expression did work together.

Seelan Palay (b. 1984) has studied Fine Art at Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore and works with mixed media, installation, performance, film and sound.
