Dear All,

The month of July saw a variety of programs from the launching of an alternative tourist guide on Bangkok, the screening of a documentary on interethnic relations in Myanmar and another on environmental destruction in Sarawak, to a talk by renown journalist Michael Vatikiotis on current governance issues in Southeast Asia. Of note, the Philippines Educational Theater Association (PETA), our partner in the recent workshop on corporal punishment has received this year Ramon Mangsasay Award for its 50 years of theater for social change.

This month’s focus is on different art forms in Southeast Asia including Indonesian Chinese Peranakan batik, Myanmar reverse glass paintings, Thai temple ornaments and contemporary performance on rice as part of the series The Rice of Southeast Asia“. We will also host the third event of the series ASEAN People in Flux focusing on women migrants in Southeast Asia.

Looking forward to welcoming you and please help us disseminating this information to your network. All events are free, but your donations are crucial to enable us to continue our activities!

Best regards,

Lia Sciortino Sumaryono
