Dear All,

I am glad to inform you that April workshops on Indonesian glass paintings, making of wayang from recycling material and angklung bamboo music were very well attended, in spite of Bangkok being quite empty for the Songkran Festival. We also had a very successful launch of the series “ASEAN in Flux” on movements of people in an increasingly integrated region in collaboration with the Heinrich Boll Stiftung Southeast Asia, with more than 70 people attending the documentary screening, panel discussion and the exhibition “Displaced”.

This month, we look forward to launch another series focusing on a core element of Southeast Asian cultures. “The rice of Southeast Asia” series organized by SEA Junction in collaboration with Asiatopia International Performance Art and E-Shann Way Magazine focuses on all dimensions of rice, from culture to science and agriculture through lectures, exhibitions and other events.

Other interesting events detailed in the agenda are the book discussion on Southern Thailand in Thai language and the Bang Khnai Band concert combining Thai string and musical instruments to perform traditional Thai music.

Looking forward to welcoming you and please help us disseminating this information to your network.

Best regards,

Lia Sciortino Sumaryono
Founder and Executive Director SEA Junction
