SUMMARY:Class on Southeast Asia for International Relations Students of the University of Mataram\, Indonesia (closed event)
DESCRIPTION:The University of Mataram (Universitas Mataram) in Lombok\, Indonesia is organizing a study visit to  Thailand for students in the faculty of Political Sciences and International Development to enhance their understanding of neighboring countries and regional processes. They will be expected to apply their theoretical knowledge to socio-conomic and cultural issues\, including tourism\, to the discovery of Thailand  while also promoting the still relatively less known province of West Nusa Tenggara. \nAs part of the study visit\, they will be coming to SEA Junction on 16 August at 10.30am and our director Rosalia Sciortino will present on Southeast Asia and discuss how SEA Junction operates to promote knowledge exchange and interaction on Southeast Asia. \nLecturer \nRosalia Sciortino\, MA\, PhD is Associate Professor at the Institute for Population and Social Research\, Mahidol University\, Visiting Professor in the Master in International Development Studies (MAIDS)\, Chulalongkorn University\, and founder and Director of SEA Junction (www.seajunction.org). Formerly\, she served as regional director for the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Singapore and for the Rockefeller Foundation in Bangkok\, and as program officer in the Ford Foundation’s Jakarta and Manila offices. \nSource: Edarabia \nOrganizers: \nSEA Junction\, OUR Venue on Southeast Asia\, aims to foster understanding and appreciation of Southeast Asia in all its socio-cultural dimensions –from arts and lifestyles to economy and development.
