SUMMARY:Empowering CSOs’ Role in Ensuring a Transparent Power System to Accelerate the Renewable Energy Transition
DESCRIPTION:Background \nSEA Junction will be participating in this year Bangkok Climate Action Week (BKKCAW)\, a city-wide initiative inspired by the London Climate Action Week. BKKCAW brings together public programs\, the arts\, exhibitions\, policy labs\, and community-led experiments to foster whole-of-society engagement that is bold\, hopeful\, and transformative. \nLack of transparency in power systems remains a critical barrier to scaling up renewable energy and ensuring a fair transition. This panel\, hosted by Solutions For Our Climate (SFOC)\, will convene CSOs from across Asia to highlight the importance of transparency in power systems and explore practical steps to advance fairness and accountability in the energy transition. \nPanelist includes representatives from SFOC\, IESR\, ICSC and NXN \nFor more information on this panel\, please visit https://luma.com/a0gj0mwi \n \nFor more information on the venue\, please email: info@seajunction.org or phone/wa: +66970024140 \nOrganizers \nSEA Junction\, established under the Thai non-profit organization Foundation for Southeast Asia Studies (ForSEA)\, aims to foster understanding and appreciation of Southeast Asia in all its socio-cultural dimensions- from arts and lifestyles to economy and development. Conveniently located at Room 407-8 of the Bangkok Arts and Culture Center or BACC (across MBK\, BTS National Stadium)\, SEA Junction facilitates public access to knowledge resources and exchanges among students\, practitioners and Southeast Asia lovers. It works to hold polluters accountable and drive down greenhouse gas emissions through four main strategies: policy research and recommendations\, legal action and litigation\, communications and campaigns\, and international cooperation. SFOC has played a leading role in civil society coalitions\, including efforts that ended South Korea’s public financing of overseas coal projects in 2021\, and continues to collaborate globally to push for a just and effective transition to clean energy.
