DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Dates: August 18th to September 17th 2024 \nLocation: West Eden Gallery\, 45/2 Sukhumvit 31 \n  \nBangkok\, August 18th\, 2024 – West Eden is pleased to announce สุญตา (Śūnyatā)\, an exhibition of works by Vayupad Ruttanapet and Tanakrit Polngam on view from August 18th through September 17th\, 2024. Inspired by the return of the Golden Boy statue to Thailand from The Metropolitan Museum of Art last December\, the Śūnyatā exhibition questions the true value of art and invites viewers to explore potential pathways of history and reflect upon its inherent fragility. \nThe name of the exhibition\, “Śūnyatā” signifies emptiness\, voidness\, or absence. It reflects the uncertainty and non-attachment to all things. The concept of Śūnyatā invites viewers to explore and interpret history from new perspectives\, considering the uncertainty of history and the transformation of reality in the present. By examining the various possible paths of history and the changes resulting from different decisions and outcomes\, the exploration and imagination of past possibilities help us understand and accept the fragility of the present reality. \nThe two highlighted pieces are “Nang Loy”\, 2023\, and “Ratklao Yod”\, 2023. \nTanakrit Polngam graduated from the Faculty of Painting\, Sculpture\, and Graphic Arts\, at Silpakorn University. His work questions the diverse beliefs in Thai society that seamlessly blend with the lives of contemporary people. He creates art that reflects the themes by interpreting ancient myths and beliefs in modern ways. \nHe has also participated in many exhibitions\, including the Petrichor exhibition of the Thai Art major students in 2023; the “Exchange and Learn” 46th Anniversary Thai Art Department Traveling Exhibition at the Phra Phromphichit Gallery\, Faculty of Architecture\, Silpakorn University\, Wang Thapra Campus\, Bangkok; and the 3rd UNIONCO-ARTSPACE Exhibition at Union Mall in 2022. \nVayupat Ruttanapet graduated from the Faculty of Painting\, Sculpture\, and Graphic Arts\, at Silpakorn University. His works reflect the concept of multiculturalism in contemporary human society\, blending Western artistic traditions\, especially the creation of human sculptures and monuments\, with various branches of traditional Thai art\, including painting\, dance\, and craftsmanship. These are integrated into clay sculptures that capture moments and human life in contemporary society. \nHe has participated in numerous exhibitions\, including the 13th Bualuang Rising Stars Project at the Queen Sirikit Gallery\, Bangkok\, in 2024; the Vijitraporn and Delicate Art of Khon at the Rajdumnern Contemporary Art Gallery\, Bangkok\, in 2022; the Art of the Next Gen Exhibition at Asiatique The Riverfront\, Bangkok\, in 2020. \n \n  \nThai Version \n18 สิงหาคม 2567 – West Eden ภูมิใจนำเสนอนิทรรศการ “สุญตา (Śūnyatā)” ผ่านการจัดแสดงผลงานประติมากรรมของ วายุพัด รัตนเพชร และ ธนกฤต ผลงาม ตั้งแต่วันที่ 18 สิงหาคม ถึงวันที่ 17 กันยายน 2567 นี้ โดยนิทรรศการนี้ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากการคืนรูปปั้นโกลเด้น บอย กลับสู่ประเทศไทยจากพิพิธภัณฑ์ The Metropolitan Museum of Art  ในเดือนธันวาคมที่ผ่านมา นิทรรศการสุญตา ได้ตั้งคำถามเกี่ยวกับคุณค่าที่แท้จริงของงานศิลปะและเชิญชวนให้ผู้ชมสำรวจเส้นทางของประวัติศาสตร์ที่อาจเป็นไปได้มากมาย รวมถึงพิจารณาถึงความเปราะบางของประวัติศาสตร์ \nชื่อนิทรรศการ “สุญตา” หมายถึง ความว่างเปล่าหรือการไม่มี เป็นชื่อที่สะท้อนถึงความไม่แน่นอนและความไม่ยึดติดต่อสรรพสิ่ง แนวคิดของสุญตาจึงเป็นการเชื้อเชิญให้ผู้ชมสำรวจและตีความประวัติศาสตร์ในมุมมองใหม่ โดยพิจารณาถึงความไม่แน่นอนของประวัติศาสตร์และเส้นทางประวัติศาสตร์ที่อาจเป็นไปได้หลากหลายจากการตัดสินใจที่แตกต่างกัน การสำรวจและจินตนาการถึงความเป็นไปได้ในอดีต จึงช่วยให้เราเข้าใจและยอมรับความเปราะบางของความจริงในปัจจุบันได้ \nภายในนิทรรศการจะมีการแสดงผลงานชิ้นเด่นทั้งหมด 2 ชิ้น ได้แก่ ผลงานชื่อ “นางลอย”\, 2023 และ \n“รัดเกล้ายอด”\, 2023 \nธนกฤต ผลงาม สำเร็จการศึกษาจากคณะจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรม และ ภาพพิมพ์ ภาคศิลปะไทย มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร โดยผลงานของเขาได้ตั้งคำถามถึงมิติทางความเชื่อที่หลากหลายในสังคมไทยซึ่งกลมกลืนไปกับวิถีชีวิตของคนในปัจจุบันอย่างแนบเนียน ผ่านการตีความตำนานความเชื่อและสัตว์โบราณในรูปแบบที่แปลกใหม่ \nธนกฤต เคยได้ร่วมจัดแสดงนิทรรศการมากมาย อาทิเช่น  นิทรรศการศิลปนิพนธ์ของนักศึกษาคณะจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ รุ่น 76 มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ในปี 2567\, นิทรรศการ Petrichor (ปฏิกรณ์) ของนักศึกษาเอกศิลปะไทย ในปี 2566\, และ นิทรรศการสัญจร “แลก เปลี่ยน เรียนรู้” 46 ปี ภาควิชาศิลปไทย ที่หอศิลป์พระพรหมพิจิตร คณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร วิทยาเขตวังท่าพระ\, กรุงเทพฯ รวมถึง นิทรรศการ UNIONCO-ARTSPACE ครั้งที่ 3\, ห้างสรรพสินค้ายูเนียนมอลล์ ในปี 2565 \nวายุพัด รัตนเพชร สำเร็จการศึกษาจากคณะจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ ภาควิชาประติมากรรม มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร  โดยผลงานของเขาสะท้อนแนวคิดของพหุวัฒนธรรมของมนุษย์ร่วมสมัย หรือการผสมผสานวิถีศิลปะแบบตะวันตก โดยเฉพาะขนบวิธีการสร้างประติมากรรมรูปมนุษย์ และอนุสาวรีย์ กับศิลปะไทยประเพณีในแขนงต่างๆ ทั้งจิตรกรรม นาฏศิลป์ และหัตถศิลป์ ประสานกันเป็นประติมากรรมวัสดุดินเผาที่บันทึกช่วงเวลาและมนุษย์ในวิถีร่วมสมัย \nวายุพัด เคยได้ร่วมจัดแสดงนิทรรศการมากมาย อาทิเช่น โครงการดาวเด่นบัวหลวง 101 ครั้งที่ 13 ณ หอศิลป์พระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์\, กรุงเทพฯ ในปี 2567\, โครงการวิจิตราภรณ์และประณีตศิลป์แห่งโขน ณ หอศิลป์ร่วมสมัยราชดําเนิน\, กรุงเทพฯ\, ในปี 2565\, นิทรรศการเดอะอาร์ทออฟเน็กซ์เจน ณ เอเชียทีคเดอะริเวอร์ฟรอนท์\, กรุงเทพฯ ในปี 2563 \nวายุพัด รัตนเพชร และ ธนกฤต ผลงาม \nสุญตา (Śūnyatā) \nพิธีเปิดนิทรรศการ: วันที่ 18 สิงหาคม ตั้งแต่ 14.00 – 18.00น. \nระยะเวลานิทรรศการ: วันที่ 18 สิงหาคม – วันที่ 17 กันยายน 2567 \nWest Eden Gallery\, 45/2 ซอยสุขุมวิท 31 \nShare on FacebookTweetFollow usSave
