SUMMARY:Orientation Classes for MAIDS Students on ASEAN and GMS Regional Integration
DESCRIPTION:SEA Junction Director\, Dr. Rosalia Sciortino\, will provide two orientation classes at SEA Junction to new students of the Master of Arts in International Development Studies (MAIDS) of Chulalongkorn Universities. The one-year (MAIDS) program  is one of the first in Southeast Asia to offer multidisciplinary training in international development with a curriculum that integrates academic\, technical\, managerial\, and professional training in the social sciences.communication and democratization (see further http://maids-chula.org) \nThe orientation classes are meant to introduce the students to the topic of ASEAN and Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) regional integration in anticipation of the full course on Global Studies\, which Dr Sciortino will give in the 2nd semester. The Course an overview of globalization and regionalism as they play out in Asia and more particularly in Southeast Asia and the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS).  The course examines regional development in Southeast Asia and its dynamics and impacts\, with a particular focus on growing economic gaps in the region and the implications for its increasingly mobile and diverse population.
