DESCRIPTION:Students of the one-year New Curators programme will cover all aspects of the profession and get the chance to organize a major show at South London Gallery. \nWHY?  \nWe Know that the training to become a curator is expensive and entering the profession can be difficult. Little wonder our industry is often seen as elitist and characterized by a lack of diversity\, we want to help make the art world more accessible and equitable because we believe this will make it richer and more relevant. \nBy offering an intensive twelve-month curatorial training and London living wage to 12 people from lower socio-economic backgrounds globally we will help diversify the curatorial profession. \nWHAT? \nOur course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge\, practical skills\, networks\, and confidence needed to thrive in the curatorial profession. \nThe program is divided into five strands: \nAcademic seminars –In curatorial theory and practice and art history. \nSkill Training-covering essential topics as writing for different audiences\, public speaking\, budgeting and fundraising. \nNetwork development-Meetings with a wide range of curators\, artists and arts profession and regular studio\, gallery and museum visits in the UK and internationally. \nExhibition making –Extensive practical experience working collaboratively on exhibitions\, publications and public programmes. \nCoaching and mentorship– Participants will be mentored and have access to regular individual and group coaching session. \nIf you think you have what it takes to become a future curator and change-maker\, and need a leg-up please read on. \nYou can read and apply here \nShare on FacebookTweetFollow usSave
