SUMMARY:Public Forum on How We Talk About Sexual Assault
DESCRIPTION:This moderated public forum on 27 April at 5PM at SEA Junction will facilitate discussion on how we talk about sexual assault. Participants will explore together the ways sexual assault is discussed in the media\, in Thai culture and society\, and in our daily lives. \nThe moderator is Monisha Bajaj\, founder of Ruam Chuay\, a Thai non-profit organization focusing on preventing interpersonal violence (see below). She has a background in restorative justice and trauma-informed care among others. To get participants on the same page\, she will start with a short talk about the issue of sexual assault and why ‘how we talk about it’ matters. Participatory discussion will then follow with sharing of viewpoints\, perspectives\, and experiences. From the process\, tangible ways will emerge about how to have safer conversations about this difficult subject and how to address it. \nArtwork by Womanifesto 1997\, Catalogue Cover\, Image courtesy of Womanifesto Archive \nThe event is free\, but donations are most welcome to enable SEA Junction to continue its activities and keep events accessible to the public. \nReservation is strongly recommended for this event as space is limited so please email to southeastasiajunction@gmail.com or phone/wa: +66970024140 \nOrganizers: \nSEA Junction\, OUR Venue to Connect on Southeast Asia \nSEA Junction aims to foster understanding and appreciation of Southeast Asia in all its socio-cultural dimensions –from arts and lifestyles to economy and development.
