SUMMARY:Refugee Law & Protection in Thailand
DESCRIPTION:The German-Southeast Asian Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG)\, the Center for Asylum Protection (CAP)\, the Citizen Activation Academy and Hanns Seidel Foundation host a six-days intensive training course on Refugee Law & Protection in Thailand. \nThe course is split into three sessions (3 x 2 days) and is conducted on \n\n10-11 September\,\n1-2 October\, and\n29-30 October 2019\n\nat the Faculty of Law\, Thammasat University (Tha Prachan campus). \nThis training course offers substantive and practical sessions as well as two field trips. It is conducted partly in Thai and partly in English\, and it is suitable for participants who deal with refugee and asylum issues in their professional work or civil society engagement. \nSubstantive sessions cover: \n\nThai and international refugee law\nRefugee status determination\nRegistration and nationality law\nDeportation and extradition\nHuman trafficking\nChild protection\nLabor rights\nAccess to health care\, education and housing\nThe practical sessions address:\nInterviewing techniques\nWorking with trauma victims\nLegal aid and ethical issues\nParticipants will take part in field trips to an immigration detention center and to an urban refugee community center.\n\nInstructors and trainers are representatives from: \n\nThai immigration authorities\nUNCHR – the UN Refugee Agency\nInternational Organization of Migration (IOM)\nUnited States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)\nFaculty of Law/Thammasat University\nCenter for Asylum Protection (CAP)\nAsylum Access in Thailand (AAT)\nHuman Rights & Development Federation (HRDF)\nJesuit Refugee Service (JRS)\nThai Lawyers for Human Rights\n\nThe training is free of charge\, including lunch.
