DAAD does not accept institutional TOEFL reports.\nApplicants should be not more than 28 years of age when applying\nProspective applicants will apply directly to AIT.\nIn addition to AIT’s application package\, the applicant is to submit a CV (typed\, 2 pages at most) and a letter of motivation for the master’s study.\n\n**Notes: \n\nAIT shall forward the eligible application dossiers (pre-selected according to DAAD/ AIT requirements) to DAAD along with a list of applicants ranked according to AIT criteria by first week of April 2015.\nThe final decision will be taken by DAAD screening committee. SUMMARY:Photo Exhibition "Harsh Life on Shore: Migrant Workers in the Thai Fishing Industry"
DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, the harsh labor practices and poor living and work conditions of migrants from Cambodia and Myanmar in the fishing and seafood industry in Thailand have received international attention and prompted demands for systemic reform. Photographer Rahman Mahmud’s insights powerfully illustrate the Cambodian migrant children\, women and men who sustain the industry with their exploited labor. In his words: “I have spent hours during the day in a fishing pier. A vessel arrives\, the workers on board unloads the fish\, sort the fish\, clean the boat\, load fresh supply of food\, mend nets and the loudspeaker from the captain’s deck urges to leave for fresh catch. It is maximum productivity using undocumented laborers. I haven’t seen any worker leaving the pier for a stroll. It is a $7 billion a year industry and an average pay is below 10$/day with non-stop work.” \nSelected photographs taken in various port locations in Thailand between 2012 and 2014 will be exposed for a week on 28 January-5 February at SEA Junction. SUMMARY:Southeast Asia Leadership Scholarships
DESCRIPTION:Central European University’s (CEU) School of Public Policy will award scholarships to applicants from Southeast Asia to enroll in its unique\, two-year Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. Scholarships are available for citizens of Cambodia\, Laos\, Malaysia\, Thailand\, and Vietnam. \nThe program supports individuals who demonstrate the potential to become leaders in their communities. Although not mandatory\, it is preferred that applicants have one year or more of volunteer and/or work experience. \nThe MPA degree curriculum is focused on the study and practice of global public policy. CEU is an English-language\, U.S. graduate university located in Budapest and accredited in both the United States and Hungary. \nThe Master of Public Administration program is registered and accredited in the State of New York. \nAWARD\nScholarship recipients will receive the equivalent of a CEU’s Master’s Excellence Scholarship which includes the following support for two years (an approximate total value of EUR €38\,000): \n\nFull tuition scholarship\nHousing allowance\nPartial living stipend (EUR €180/month for 10 months per academic year)\nHealth insurance\n\nELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS\nAll scholarships are awarded on a merit basis. Citizens of Cambodia\, Laos\, Malaysia\, Thailand\, and Vietnam are eligible to apply. \nSCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURES AND DEADLINE\nIn order to be considered for these scholarships\, the applicant must indicate in the online MPA application form that she/he is a citizen of one of the five eligible countries noted above.
