DESCRIPTION:ASEASUK is offering bursaries to members to support research and impact activities in Southeast Asian Studies. The awards are available for travel and related expenses for activities taking place between 1 July 2017 to 31 July 2018.\nPermissible activities include: \n\nfieldwork in SE Asia or key sites in the diaspora;\nresearch visits to important regional archives\, museums\, collections\, exhibitions or performances (concerning but not necessarily located in SE Asia);\na visit for collaborative writing or artistic practice with an academic or practitioner colleague from another institution in SE Asia;\ndelivery of a paper at a regional academic conference;\ndelivery of a paper to an academic or practitioner audience based on research previously conducted on/in the region.\n\nAwards available: \n\nThree Postgraduate Bursaries (PhD\, MPhil or MRes students)\, up to £1000 each\nOne Early Career Award\, up to £1500\nOne Senior Award\, up to £2500\n\nApplication deadline: 30 April 2017. DESCRIPTION:The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the opportunity to compete for 2018-2019 Fulbright Student Fellowships for graduate study in the United States leading to a Master’s or Doctoral degree. Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to qualified candidates under the auspices of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Program\, subject to the availability of funding. \nDeadline: June 1\, 2017\nThe Fulbright Program was established in 1946 by the U.S. Congress as a means “to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.” For more than sixty years the Fulbright Program has provided opportunities for foreign nationals to study\, teach\, and pursue research in the U.S.\nTo be eligible\, applicants must: \n\nHave a strong academic background and a record of excellence in previous studies;\nHave completed a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Master’s degree program\, or have a Master’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Doctoral program;\nBe proficient in English (a minimum score of 570 on TOEFL or TOEFL ITP\, or 230 on computer-based TOEFL\, or 88 on internet based TOEFL\, or 7.0 on IELTS);\nDemonstrate the ability to adapt readily to a foreign environment;\nBe in good health and able to undergo a rigorous study program; and\nNot have extensive experience living or studying in the United States.\n\nFulbright Student Fellowship grants provide round-trip transportation to the United States\, as well as tuition fees\, and living expenses for full-time graduate study. SUMMARY:The NSC Field School
DESCRIPTION:\nOverview\n \n\nDuration: 22 Jul – 11 Aug 2018\n\nThe NSC Field School (organised by the Nalanda-Sriwijaya Centre\, ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute) began in 2012 with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Singapore). The Field School aims to increase knowledge of the meaningful interactions between Asian countries\, with particular attention to intra-Asian engagement in the last two millennia\, and create a community of East Asia Summit (EAS) scholars. The Field School intentions will enhance practical skills; expand professional networks; and strengthen partnerships during the process of experiential learning. \n \nBetween 2012 and 2017 NSC Field Schools were conducted in Cambodia and Singapore\, and in 2018 the Field School is planned for July-August in East Java\, Indonesia\, and Singapore. Institutions within the EAS that have collaborated in this project in Cambodia include the Royal University of Fine Arts (RUFA)\, the Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap (APSARA Authority)\, the National Authority for Preah Vihear (NAPV)\, the Royal Academy of Cambodia\, Sydney University\, and the Australian National University. \n \nThe 18 East Asia Summit countries are: Australia\, Brunei\, Cambodia\, China\, India\, Indonesia\, Japan\, Laos\, Malaysia\, Myanmar (Burma)\, New Zealand\, the Philippines\, Russia\, Singapore\, South Korea\, Thailand\, the United States\, and Vietnam.\n\n \nsource: https://www.iseas.edu.sg/centres/nalanda-sriwijaya-centre/archaeology-unit/the-nsc-field-school\n \n
