DESCRIPTION:The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the opportunity to compete for 2018-2019 Fulbright Student Fellowships for graduate study in the United States leading to a Master’s or Doctoral degree. Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to qualified candidates under the auspices of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Program\, subject to the availability of funding. \nDeadline: June 1\, 2017\nThe Fulbright Program was established in 1946 by the U.S. Congress as a means “to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.” For more than sixty years the Fulbright Program has provided opportunities for foreign nationals to study\, teach\, and pursue research in the U.S.\nTo be eligible\, applicants must: \n\nHave a strong academic background and a record of excellence in previous studies;\nHave completed a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Master’s degree program\, or have a Master’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Doctoral program;\nBe proficient in English (a minimum score of 570 on TOEFL or TOEFL ITP\, or 230 on computer-based TOEFL\, or 88 on internet based TOEFL\, or 7.0 on IELTS);\nDemonstrate the ability to adapt readily to a foreign environment;\nBe in good health and able to undergo a rigorous study program; and\nNot have extensive experience living or studying in the United States.\n\nFulbright Student Fellowship grants provide round-trip transportation to the United States\, as well as tuition fees\, and living expenses for full-time graduate study. SUMMARY:Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED)
DESCRIPTION:Registration: March 5\, 2019 \nGuidelines \nThe Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) program aims to reduce poverty in the developing countries of ASEAN and to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. \nScholarships and educational exchanges will contribute towards all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)\, including Goal 5 (Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls) through\, for example\, women’s studies\, political science\, anthropology\, and economics; and Goal 13 (Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts) through\, for example\, environmental sciences/policy examining climate change mitigation and adaptation\, energy\, peatlands and other land use effects and strategies\, and forestry. \nSEED scholarships are facilitated through institutional collaborations and student exchange agreements between Canadian and ASEAN institutions. These agreements are created between colleges\, technical or vocational institutions and universities. Students\, hereby referred to as “candidates”\, must be registered as full-time students in their home institution at the time of application and during the entire duration of their study or research stay in Canada. \nCanadian post-secondary institutions \nCanadian institutions are: \n\nresponsible for submitting applications on behalf of eligible candidates from post-secondary institutions in ASEAN; and\nencouraged to promote this scholarship opportunity to faculty and staff members\, as well as to partner institutions in ASEAN.\n\nCanadian institutions with successful candidates: \n\nshould identify a single person responsible for the administration of the contribution agreement and another person with delegated signing authority; and\nwill receive contribution funding from Global Affairs Canada (legally referred to as the Department of Foreign Affairs\, Trade and Development\, or DFATD) to disburse as scholarships to recipients.\n\nSoutheast Asian candidates \nCandidates interested in this scholarship program should contact their home institution to: \n\nmake their interest known;\nfind out if there is an existing institutional collaboration and student exchange agreement with a Canadian institution; and\nrequest information about the application process and selection criteria specific to the Canadian institution and provide any additional information\, such as transcripts\, language test results\, a research project and a registration form for an exchange program.\n\nSelected candidates are encouraged to: \n\nensure that they fulfill the requirements of the Canadian institution including academic requirements and language proficiency;\nsubmit their visa application as early as possible and follow the procedures as outlined by Immigration\, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (generally a study permit is required for course work and a work permit is required for research); and\ninitiate the process for the transfer of credits to their home institution as soon as their Canadian courses have been identified.\n\nPost-secondary institutions in ASEAN countries \nPost-secondary institutions in ASEAN countries are encouraged to: \n\ncommunicate with post-secondary institutions they are partnered with in Canada to confirm or explore institutional collaborations and student exchange agreements;\npromote this scholarship opportunity through their international offices;\nidentify strong academic candidates who meet the admission requirements for the Canadian partner institution;\nprovide the candidates’ documents to the Canadian partner institution\, which is responsible for submitting the scholarship applications; and\npropose to selected candidates to gain additional linguistic training\, academic upgrading and cultural preparedness before their departure.\n\nSource: https://scholarships-bourses.gc.ca/scholarships-bourses/can/institutions/asean-anase.aspx?lang=eng&fbclid=IwAR3yI2T8bxR49vkkTZJXGNtPL7wdu34Hmj8ZAD3SohUf3ShsWqajmt_cE_M \n

SUMMARY:Southeast Asian LEARNING EXCHANGE on Sexual and Reproductive Health (Closed Event)
DESCRIPTION:This Learning Exchange is a program of the Forum for Family Planning and Development\, Inc \nof the Philippines. It consists of a week study tour intended to provide a group of Pilipino local policy makers\, service providers and CSOs including youth leaders from five provinces in the Philippines an opportunity to come together in order to learn about effective strategies and good practices in implementing sexual and reproductive health programs in Thailand and more generally Southeast Asia. \nThe various activities in the Learning Exchange are designed to create a venue for participants to: \n\nDialogue and share among partners in the Philippines about their own implementation of SRH programs from their respective provinces\nObserve and learn about effective strategies and good practices in program implementation from NGO and government run facilities in Thailand.\nGain more knowledge from SRHR experts and advocates about the latest data and information on current and emerging SRH issues that could have policy and program implications.\nStrengthen the project implementation team and local partnerships as well as to network with other champions in the South East Asian region.\nImprove skills to be better SRH advocates.\n\nFor the forum/seminar at SEA Junction on March 5\, 2PM – 5PM\, a panel will be organized to give participants insights into contextual and policy issues shaping SRH approaches and interventions.
