DESCRIPTION:The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the opportunity to compete for 2018-2019 Fulbright Student Fellowships for graduate study in the United States leading to a Master’s or Doctoral degree. Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to qualified candidates under the auspices of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Program\, subject to the availability of funding. \nDeadline: June 1\, 2017\nThe Fulbright Program was established in 1946 by the U.S. Congress as a means “to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.” For more than sixty years the Fulbright Program has provided opportunities for foreign nationals to study\, teach\, and pursue research in the U.S.\nTo be eligible\, applicants must: \n\nHave a strong academic background and a record of excellence in previous studies;\nHave completed a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Master’s degree program\, or have a Master’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Doctoral program;\nBe proficient in English (a minimum score of 570 on TOEFL or TOEFL ITP\, or 230 on computer-based TOEFL\, or 88 on internet based TOEFL\, or 7.0 on IELTS);\nDemonstrate the ability to adapt readily to a foreign environment;\nBe in good health and able to undergo a rigorous study program; and\nNot have extensive experience living or studying in the United States.\n\nFulbright Student Fellowship grants provide round-trip transportation to the United States\, as well as tuition fees\, and living expenses for full-time graduate study. SUMMARY:Southeast Asian Studies Summer Institute
DESCRIPTION:Registration: JUNE 17 TO AUGUST 9\, 2019 \nSEASSI is an eight-week intensive language training program for undergraduates\, graduate students and professionals. It has been held since 1983 and hosted by UW-Madison in 1994-1995 and then since 2000. Instruction is offered for academic credit in eight languages at the 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd year levels. \nBURMESE\nFILIPINO\nHMONG\nINDONESIAN\nJAVANESE\nKHMER\nLAO\nTHAI\nVIETNAMESE \nQuestions about SEASSI or the status of your application? \nPlease email us: seassi@seasia.wisc.edu. \nEach language course is equivalent to two semesters of study\, with full academic year credit. Instruction is given in small individualized groups taught by a team consisting of a coordinator (usually a linguist specializing in Southeast Asian language pedagogy) and teachers who are native speakers of that language. Instruction is intensive. Classes are held from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm\, Mondays through Fridays. Most students find that they spend an additional three to four hours per day on homework. \nSEASSI also offers a limited number of spots for students to participate in SEASSI classes via distance. SUMMARY:2nd Y-Farm Camp in Vietnam – Farm Philosophy
DESCRIPTION:The Mekong Delta\, December 2019 \nY-Farm Initiative is young farmers and researchers group in Lower Mekong Region. Our core team members are from different YSEALI Program which is Obama President Initiative of the United States. Y-Farm is established from YSEALI Seeds for Future 2017\, our team got other supports in order to organize 1st Y-Farm Camp 2017 – Farm Philosophy in Lao PDR that gathers over 27 young farmers\, researchers and students participating. \nThis 2nd Y-Farm Camp plans to organize in the Mekong Delta where is the rice bowl of Vietnam\, lowest mainstream of Mekong River\, the potential on sustainable farming activity. We plan to visit and learn different 5 farms in Can Tho City\, Dong Thap\, An Giang and Soc Trang Provinces as well as discuss and talk to different resources in the region the issues which relate to sustainable farming activities (specific and detail plan will update soon). \nAbout 25 participants who come from young farmers\, researchers\, practitioners\, students\, etc will choose to participate in this camp\, who come from Lower Mekong Countries including Myanmar\, Lao PDR\, Thailand\, Cambodia\, and Vietnam.
