DESCRIPTION:The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the opportunity to compete for 2018-2019 Fulbright Student Fellowships for graduate study in the United States leading to a Master’s or Doctoral degree. Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to qualified candidates under the auspices of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Program\, subject to the availability of funding. \nDeadline: June 1\, 2017\nThe Fulbright Program was established in 1946 by the U.S. Congress as a means “to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.” For more than sixty years the Fulbright Program has provided opportunities for foreign nationals to study\, teach\, and pursue research in the U.S.\nTo be eligible\, applicants must: \n\nHave a strong academic background and a record of excellence in previous studies;\nHave completed a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Master’s degree program\, or have a Master’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Doctoral program;\nBe proficient in English (a minimum score of 570 on TOEFL or TOEFL ITP\, or 230 on computer-based TOEFL\, or 88 on internet based TOEFL\, or 7.0 on IELTS);\nDemonstrate the ability to adapt readily to a foreign environment;\nBe in good health and able to undergo a rigorous study program; and\nNot have extensive experience living or studying in the United States.\n\nFulbright Student Fellowship grants provide round-trip transportation to the United States\, as well as tuition fees\, and living expenses for full-time graduate study. DESCRIPTION:The U.S. Mission to ASEAN will host the sixth installment of the Women’s Leadership Academy in Jakarta\, Indonesia from March 30 – April 3\, 2020 (travel on March 30th to Jakarta and travel back to respective countries on April 3). \nThe workshop will focus on leadership training and capacity-building with an emphasis on promoting economic development in the region. SUMMARY:Southeast Asia Mini Book and Craft Fair
DESCRIPTION:Once a month\, SEA Junction holds a mini book and craft fair focusing on Southeast Asia. \nFor the books\, three kinds of books are displayed: \n\nNew books given in consignment from recognized publishers with an interest in the countries of Southeast Asia including Silkworm Book from Thailand\, ISEAS form Singapore and Yayasan Pustaka Obor from Indonesia\nNew and used books that are double to those of SEA Junction’s Library. They include books in Thai\, English and Indonesian on various issues related to Southeast Asia and the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS)\nFew literature and development-related works from outside the region that have been donated to SEA Junction for the purpose of the fair.\n\nThere are also different types of crafts from Southeast Asian countries to enjoy and appreciate\, for example: \n\nPapier-mâché from Myanmar and the Philippines;\nMeter tapes and sand doll from Vietnam\nHandmade bags and postcards from Thailand; and\nPuppets made from recycle papers\, batik pencil case and fabric dolls from Indonesia\n\nAll profit from the books in consignment as well as from the donated books and crafts will contribute to SEA Junction’s functioning and activities. \nThis month\, the first day of the Southeast Asia Mini Book and Craft Fair is part of the bazaar organized to celebrate World Children’s Day for All.
