SUMMARY:1st SEA Junction Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:SEA Junction\, fully ‘Southeast Asia Junction’\, is proud to announce that it will be celebrating it’s 1st year anniversary on the 25th of June 2017. For a year already\, SEA Junction has strived to realize its aim of facilitating sharing of knowledge and experience on Southeast Asia\, whether that be about cultural\, economic\, political or development themes. We have provided an open library and reading room accessible to everybody with an interest in the topic and we have held a wide range of well-attended events such as book launches and fairs\, movie screenings\, public lectures\, arts and crafts workshops\, music concerts and panel discussions. \nThe hope is that over the next year\, SEA Junction can continue to serve as a knowledge and interaction hub for the region and broaden our reach to a wider audience. Learning from this first year we hope we can encourage more people with a variety of backgrounds and interests to not only utilize SEA Junction’s resources but contribute to the vast and ever growing network of ideas and resources that highlight the region’s diversity. \nFor the anniversary we are planning a two days event composed of open and closed events on 24 and 25 June 2017. SUMMARY:Launching and Discussion of the Book "Bangkok Rasa Lokal"
DESCRIPTION:Event description in English (Untuk Deskripsi dalam Bahasa Indonesia lihat bawah) \nOn 25 April at 1-3 PM SEA Junction will host the launching of the book “Bangkok Rasa Lokal; Wisata Anti Mainstream di Bangkok dan Sekitarnya” or “Exploring Bangkok like Locals; Anti-Mainstream Destinations in Bangkok and Surroundings”. Written by three Indonesian women\, Irene Diyah\, Decita Tulyastri and Pungki Utami\, the book is unique in that it presents their view of Bangkok\, as inhabitants of the city\, for an Indonesian public. There insights provide an alternative to mainstream guidebooks and stresses the importance of going off the most beaten tracks to discover more of Bangkok.  \nAt the event two of the writers\, Decita Tulyastri and Pungki Utami\, will share their reasons to write the book and explain more about its content. The event will be in Indonesian\, but if non-Indonesian speakers are interested\, translation will be provided.
