DESCRIPTION:The book is part of a project in two stages by Natalia Ludmila initiated after living a decade in South East Asia. It  covers seemingly random events that occurred for forty-three years in Thailand and Mexico\, imitating classified  diplomatic cables. They were sent over the mail from Bangkok to Mexico City\, and all cable letters arrived at  their destination. These letters were compiled into a book and published in Spanish\, Thai\, and English.  \nThe book will be launched on 28 November 2023\, 5:30 pm-7:00 pm at SEA Junction following its launch in  Mexico. The author / artist Natalia Ludmila will be present to discuss her book with renowned art critic and  educator Brian Curtin as commentator and independent curator Nim Niyomsin as moderator. She is a multidisciplinary artist  whose practice shifts between painting\, drawing\, video\, and sound. Her work can be defined as studio-based  research that points to the political—questioning forms of representation and the construction of false or  biased narratives in the context of conflict. Natalia’s practice is a tool to locate and highlight social imbalances.  She sees in her work the means to start a conversation. Ludmila received a BFA from Universidad Nacional  Autónoma de México and an MA from the University Of Canberra\, Australia. She has exhibited in several solo  and group shows across the world and was the Second Prize recipient in the XVIII Ibiza Biennale. Natalia has  been awarded several grants for international residencies\, spending time at Sàn Art/a.farm\, Vietnam\, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity\, Canada. He was very active as a curator between 2007-18\, mounting  exhibitions internationally and managing the experimental venue H Project Space in Bangkok. Trained as an  artist\, Brian holds a Ph.D. from the University of Bristol\, UK\, and his writings have been published in Art Journal\,  Artforum\, Craft Research\, Frieze\, Journal of Curatorial Studies\, and Parachute\, amongst others. His monograph  Essential Desires: Contemporary Art in Thailand was published by Reaktion Books in 2021. Brian lectures on the  International Programme in Communication Design (CommDe and CommMA) at Chulalongkorn University in  Bangkok where he has lived since 2000. \nhttps://brianacurtin.com \nCommentator & Moderator’s Bio  \nNim Niyomsin is an independent curator currently based in Bangkok\, Thailand. She received a Master of History  of Art from Birkbeck\, University of London (2009)\, and an MBA from Southeastern Louisiana University (2003).  Nim specialises in contemporary art\, photography\, and public art events.
