SUMMARY:SEAChange: Cyanotype Workshop and Mini Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:SEA Junction\, in collaboration with S.O.S Project\, will be hosting a cyanotype workshop and mini exhibition on 26 April 2025 on 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm at our venue cantered on ocean conservation. Given that over 25% of global trade passes through Southeast Asia’s critical sea lanes\, it is urgent to reflect on the unseen impacts of this trade. \nThe workshop\, conducted in English\, invites participants to explore their relationship with our seas and water resources through a multisensory experience that brings art\, activism and science together. Artist Ruwanthi Gajadeera will be encouraging participants to create their own cyanotype poster\, a special dye that uses sunlight to create a shadow impression onto a medium\, with ocean waste to raise awareness of ocean conservation\, and reimagine a more hopeful future for the ocean. \nKey activities will include: \n\nGuided exploration of the Multimodal\, immersive mini exhibition\nCreation of a personalized take-home cyanotype poster\nReflective discussion and art-science activity\n\nThe workshop fee is 500 THB/person and it includes materials and guided immersive experience. Rooted in Sri Lankan heritage\, she incorporates imagery of the global majority and traditional crafts into accessible contemporary designs across various media fashion\, textiles\, paintings\, sound\, and scent. Her work bridges past and present to encourage reflection on community\, heritage\, and the environment\, with a focus on addressing climate change through local wisdom and long-established traditions. \n \nOrganizers \nS.O.S. (Save Our Seas) is an art-science initiative exploring the ocean from a posthuman perspective\, examining humans’ entangled existence with marine ecosystems while making these issues more relatable to the public through a multisensory experience.
