DESCRIPTION:ASEASUK is offering bursaries to members to support research and impact activities in Southeast Asian Studies. The awards are available for travel and related expenses for activities taking place between 1 July 2017 to 31 July 2018.\nPermissible activities include: \n\nfieldwork in SE Asia or key sites in the diaspora;\nresearch visits to important regional archives\, museums\, collections\, exhibitions or performances (concerning but not necessarily located in SE Asia);\na visit for collaborative writing or artistic practice with an academic or practitioner colleague from another institution in SE Asia;\ndelivery of a paper at a regional academic conference;\ndelivery of a paper to an academic or practitioner audience based on research previously conducted on/in the region.\n\nAwards available: \n\nThree Postgraduate Bursaries (PhD\, MPhil or MRes students)\, up to £1000 each\nOne Early Career Award\, up to £1500\nOne Senior Award\, up to £2500\n\nApplication deadline: 30 April 2017. Decisions will be made by ASEASUK’s Research Committee by 31 May 2017. Since its foundation in 1967\, ASEAN has reached a golden milestone\, celebrating its 50th anniversary. This year is also highlighted by the 10th anniversary of the ASEAN-Korea FTA\, and the ASEAN-ROK Cultural Exchange Year\, with inauguration of the ASEAN Culture House in Busan which is the first of its kind outside ASEAN region. \nAmid the development in the ASEAN-Korea relations\, the international community is witnessing rapid changes. There are growing uncertainties in the international relations such as Brexit and America’s withdrawals from multilateral agreements. How can we assess ASEAN’s achievements and how will ASEAN navigate through the changing international dynamics? \n\n ASEAN and Korea 4.0: Adapting Digital Economy\n\nThe world is seeing the realization of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. How are ASEAN and Korea adapting to the new changes in the global economy? As 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of ASEAN-ROK FTA\, how can ASEAN and Korea strengthen their economic partnership in the changing economic environment? \n\n ASEAN-Korea Educational Cooperation for Mutual Understanding\n\nBuilding a true and lasting partnership begins from a deep mutual understanding between each other.
