DESCRIPTION:The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the opportunity to compete for 2018-2019 Fulbright Student Fellowships for graduate study in the United States leading to a Master’s or Doctoral degree. Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to qualified candidates under the auspices of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Program\, subject to the availability of funding. \nDeadline: June 1\, 2017\nThe Fulbright Program was established in 1946 by the U.S. Congress as a means “to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.” For more than sixty years the Fulbright Program has provided opportunities for foreign nationals to study\, teach\, and pursue research in the U.S.\nTo be eligible\, applicants must: \n\nHave a strong academic background and a record of excellence in previous studies;\nHave completed a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Master’s degree program\, or have a Master’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Doctoral program;\nBe proficient in English (a minimum score of 570 on TOEFL or TOEFL ITP\, or 230 on computer-based TOEFL\, or 88 on internet based TOEFL\, or 7.0 on IELTS);\nDemonstrate the ability to adapt readily to a foreign environment;\nBe in good health and able to undergo a rigorous study program; and\nNot have extensive experience living or studying in the United States.\n\nFulbright Student Fellowship grants provide round-trip transportation to the United States\, as well as tuition fees\, and living expenses for full-time graduate study. DESCRIPTION:Deadline : August 31st\, 2018 \n\nGreetings Filmmakers and Friends! \nThe Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS)\, Kyoto University is calling for documentaries for the 7th Visual Documentary Project! Please circulate to all filmmakers in the region. Please help us reach out to young aspiring filmmakers in Southeast Asia! \nTHEME: Popular Culture and Southeast Asia \nSoutheast Asia: a region rich in popular cultural traditions. How do popular music\, art\, literature\, theatre\, comedy\, dance\, sport and film\, move people in Southeast Asia? What makes them laugh\, cry and feel? Inspire us! For 2018\, we open up the visual documentary project to documentaries that capture popular cultures across the region. \nREQUIREMENTS \n1. Applicants must be citizens from Southeast Asia or Japan.\n2. Documentaries should be no longer than 30 minutes.\n3. Applicants should make sure they have permission from any subjects that appear in the movies.\n4. Documentaries should include English subtitles.Translation and subtitling is also the responsibility of applicants. \n*Selected documentaries will be screened in their original languages with both Japanese and English subtitles.
