DESCRIPTION:The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the opportunity to compete for 2018-2019 Fulbright Student Fellowships for graduate study in the United States leading to a Master’s or Doctoral degree. Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to qualified candidates under the auspices of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Program\, subject to the availability of funding. \nDeadline: June 1\, 2017\nThe Fulbright Program was established in 1946 by the U.S. Congress as a means “to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.” For more than sixty years the Fulbright Program has provided opportunities for foreign nationals to study\, teach\, and pursue research in the U.S.\nTo be eligible\, applicants must: \n\nHave a strong academic background and a record of excellence in previous studies;\nHave completed a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Master’s degree program\, or have a Master’s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Doctoral program;\nBe proficient in English (a minimum score of 570 on TOEFL or TOEFL ITP\, or 230 on computer-based TOEFL\, or 88 on internet based TOEFL\, or 7.0 on IELTS);\nDemonstrate the ability to adapt readily to a foreign environment;\nBe in good health and able to undergo a rigorous study program; and\nNot have extensive experience living or studying in the United States.\n\nFulbright Student Fellowship grants provide round-trip transportation to the United States\, as well as tuition fees\, and living expenses for full-time graduate study. SUMMARY:Full / Associate/ Assistant Professor of Politics & History of Southeast Asia
DESCRIPTION:The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) at Singapore Management University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Politics & History of Southeast Asia at the level of Full\, Associate\, or Assistant Professor.   \nWe are seeking candidates who conduct research on the politics and history of contemporary Southeast Asia\, specializing in either individual countries\, comparative historical analysis\, or the region as a whole. We are particularly interested in candidates who complement the current research strengths in SOSS. The successful candidate will display a record of\, or high potential for\, scholarly research\, as well as demonstrated teaching aptitude. The position requires a doctorate in Political Science\, History\, or a closely related field.  \nSingapore Management University is a research university committed to an interdisciplinary and integrated curriculum\, providing opportunities to work with faculty across the social sciences. The research support is excellent and salary and benefits are highly competitive. The teaching load is comparable to other research universities\, and typically\, junior faculty receive a 3-course per year teaching load for their first contract.  \nFull evaluation of applications will start 1 October 2019. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interviews\, which will begin in October 2019.
