SUMMARY:RCSD Call for Myanmar Research Fellows
DESCRIPTION:The Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD)\, Faculty of Social Sciences\, Chiang Mai University is delighted to launch a second call for Myanmar Research Fellows. Joining our first batch of 12 fellows\, we are looking to support fellows working either on issues of forced displacement\, migration\, and refugees\, or on topics relating to inclusion\, federalism\, and democracy. We aim to engage researchers who wish to undertake a specific project and would benefit from engaging with the dynamic community of scholars at CMU. \nThe fellowships will initially run for a period of 6 months\, beginning April 2022 through until October 2022\, with the possibility of extension to complete a full 12 months. Fellows will be provided with a living and accommodation allowance\, medical insurance\, the cost of international travel and quarantine in Thailand\, and a working space and visa support. They will have access to facilities at the university and form part of our network of Thai\, Myanmar\, and international researchers. \nThe basic requirements for applying to these positions are: \n\nExperience in researching in at least one of the two areas in or around Myanmar:\n\nForced displacement\, migration\, and refugee issues\nInclusion\, federalism\, and democracy\n\n\nThe ability to continue to engage in research or efforts to support inclusion in Myanmar having been impacted by events of the past year.\nRobust spoken and written skills in both Myanmar and English is desirable\, as are ethnic language skills.\nA master’s degree in any subject in the social sciences and humanities is a requirement. Additional research experience is desirable.\n\nAdditional information: The awarding of fellowships will be competitively assessed and awarded by a selection committee. In accepting the fellowship\, the researchers will commit to producing at least one manuscript ready for publication or journal submission within the fellowship period. The fellows will also be expected to contribute to the academic community at RCSD and Chiang Mai University in different ways. \nAs a small research center\, we are committed to the production of grounded\, community-engaged knowledge on development in our region\, and we hope the fellows will continue in this tradition. While this is a full-time position\, RCSD acknowledges that in the present context fellows may have other ongoing commitments. SUMMARY:IDREAM: Capacity Building for Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) Living in Exile
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) is accepting applications from Human Rights Defenders living in exile and their supporting HRD organization to participate in a dynamic capacity development and mentoring partnership called “IDREAM.” \nIDREAM (Incubator for Defenders Remaining in Exile to Advance Movements) is a collaborative and global capacity development project designed to help address the unique needs of HRDs living in exile. IDREAM will provide training and networking activities with the goals of:  advancing advocacy efforts\, promoting HRD’s psychosocial resilience and well-being\, and improving exiled HRD’s physical and digital security. At the end of the selection process\, 10 partner HRDs living in exile around the world and their supporting HRD organization will be invited to join IDREAM. The project’s activities will take place from approximately July 2022 through October 2023. HRDs selected for IDREAM will receive financial assistance to support their work in the project. \nThe Call for Applications is available in English\, Russian\, French\, Mandarin\, Arabic\, and Spanish.
