DESCRIPTION:The Centre on Asia and Globalisation (CAG)\, at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy\, National University of Singapore\, invites applications for TWO Research Fellowships in the fields of: \n\nInternational Relations\, with a focus on Southeast Asia\nInternational Politics of Technology\n\nThe Lee Kuan Yew School is a leading school of public policy with an international faculty and student body. CAG was established in 2006 to provide accurate\, independent\, and high-quality analysis on issues of regional and global significance for academia\, decision-makers\, commentators\, and the general public. Its current research agenda focuses on the prospects of regional and global order; the future of economic globalisation/de-globalisation and their impact on Asia; the alignment postures of Southeast Asia in an era of superpower competition; and the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on international politics (https://lkyspp.nus.edu.sg/cag). \nDescription \nThe candidate will conduct independent\, in-depth\, and publishable research on issues in his/her expertise and contribute to the Centre’s agenda on: \n\nThe international relations of Southeast Asia OR\nThe international politics of technology\, including but not limited to the geopolitics of technological competition\, techno-nationalism\, and the strategic implications of emerging technology. The preferred regional area of focus is Asia (Northeast\, Southeast Asia\, and South Asia).\n\nS/he is expected to initiate and organize research projects\, workshops\, conferences\, and other research events. S/he should be able to reach out to publishers and actively engage with academia\, policy practitioners\, and media and business leaders\, as well as apply for external grants. SUMMARY:Call for Application Summer School on Land Relation in the Mekong Region
DESCRIPTION:On 5-9 June\, The Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD)\, Faculty of Social Sciences\, Chiang Mai University and the Mekong Land Research Forum (MLRF) will run a week-long intensive summer school on land research in the Mekong Region. This year\, the summer school will once again be held in person in Chiang Mai\, Thailand. Applications are welcome from early-career academics\, civil society organizations\, and government staff. \nThe purpose of the summer school is to equip participants with a research orientation in land relations and land governance through key concepts\, access to and critical engagement with research outputs\, and assimilation of knowledge of current land issues. The summer school aims to strengthen individual and networked research that is geared towards secure access to land amongst the rural and urban poor. \nIncluded in the summer school: \n\nOverview of key concepts\nAnalysis of current land issues\nField excursion\nGroup work on key themes in land governance\nInstruction by regional experts\n\nTravel and accommodation support is provided to participants from Cambodia\, Laos\, Myanmar\, Thailand and Vietnam. Participants from elsewhere will need to fund their own travel and accommodation costs\, but all tuition and meal costs will be provided without charge.
