DESCRIPTION:The Centre on Asia and Globalisation (CAG)\, at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy\, National University of Singapore\, invites applications for TWO Research Fellowships in the fields of: \n\nInternational Relations\, with a focus on Southeast Asia\nInternational Politics of Technology\n\nThe Lee Kuan Yew School is a leading school of public policy with an international faculty and student body. CAG was established in 2006 to provide accurate\, independent\, and high-quality analysis on issues of regional and global significance for academia\, decision-makers\, commentators\, and the general public. Its current research agenda focuses on the prospects of regional and global order; the future of economic globalisation/de-globalisation and their impact on Asia; the alignment postures of Southeast Asia in an era of superpower competition; and the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on international politics (https://lkyspp.nus.edu.sg/cag). \nDescription \nThe candidate will conduct independent\, in-depth\, and publishable research on issues in his/her expertise and contribute to the Centre’s agenda on: \n\nThe international relations of Southeast Asia OR\nThe international politics of technology\, including but not limited to the geopolitics of technological competition\, techno-nationalism\, and the strategic implications of emerging technology. The preferred regional area of focus is Asia (Northeast\, Southeast Asia\, and South Asia).\n\nS/he is expected to initiate and organize research projects\, workshops\, conferences\, and other research events. S/he should be able to reach out to publishers and actively engage with academia\, policy practitioners\, and media and business leaders\, as well as apply for external grants. Apply online here. \nSEALC-GETSEA Language Tuition Support \nWith support from the Henry Luce Foundation\, The Southeast East Asian Language Council (SEALC) and The Graduate Education and Training in Southeast Asian Studies (GETSEA) consortium awards financial assistance to students who incur tuition fees when studying a Southeast Asian language via synchronous distance learning during the academic year at an institution other than their home institution. This award is intended to facilitate cross-institutional collaboration and increase access to Southeast Asian language instruction. Eligibility requires that the course is credit-bearing at a North American institution and that the applicant is a full-time student at a North American institution. Priority will be given to graduate students\, but all are encouraged to apply. SEALC and GETSEA encourage applicants to consider attending SEASSI which serves as an excellent resource for summer language instruction. This award is intended to improve access during the academic year so that students can obtain multi-year instruction in a timely manner. \nWhat does the assistance cover? \nThe award provides tuition reimbursement\, minus a modest contribution from the student\, for synchronous distance learning of a SE Asian language taught by a lecturer at a North American institution.
