SUMMARY:Open Call for Applications: Art and cultural practitioners who are facilitators or organizers of art and cultural events/projects (from Southeast Asia)
DESCRIPTION:The Professional Exchange Program is to support practitioners who are facilitators or organizers of art and cultural events/projects (including artists) from Southeast Asia to have the chance for a multi-week visit and exchange in Taiwan\, hosted by an individual or an organization who has the related experiences and skills to help them develop the visiting practitioner’ personal and professional goals. The visiting practitioner also contributes to the host and art community of Taiwan by giving reflective observations and suggestions. \nTaiwan Art Space Alliance\, Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation\, Hyper Wave and Mekong Cultural Hub also facilitates coordination and logistics of the exchange as needed. \nEligibility and criteria:  \nThis Program is designed for Art and cultural practitioner who are: \n\nfacilitators or organizers of art and cultural events/projects (including artists)\nfrom Southeast Asia ( Cambodia\, Laos\, Myanmar\, Thailand\, Vietnam\, Philippines\, and Singapore\, Malaysia)\n\n\nhave been working at least for two years in arts and culture\ninterested in exploring and observing art and culture ecosystem in Taiwan\ncomfortable to publicly share their reflection or experience in art or culture through writing\nhaving publicly published articles related to arts and culture.\n\nHow does the program work? \nOrganizers will provide the visiting practitioner : \n– Provide Accommodation (Studio/shared creative space) during the Program. \n– Local transportation fee (up to the given limit based on actual expenses and with a given maximum NT2000 for 15 days). \n– A round-trip economy class ticket. \n– NT$ 6\,000 for Living per month. (about USD$180) \n– NT$ 16\,000 for written creation (about USD$480) \n– Visiting trip\, connecting practitioner to cultural sites. \nThe visiting practitioner is required to: \n– Give presentations in separate sessions of the 2024 Res Artist Conference and 2024 TASA Annual Meeting with Southeast Asia Professional Exchange Platform\, which topic is regarding “Arts Residencies in Taiwan Today” and assess the current landscape of Art Residency in Taiwan and explore future opportunities. \n– Meeting consultation on cultural policies organized by TAEF and attend Yushan Forum as Invited Guest. \n– Produce 1 article ( 1.5 pages in English) about the observation of Taiwan Art-in-Residence now. In addition\, by connecting organizations and planning events\, TASA endeavors to improve and strengthen the overall environment for art and culture in Taiwan\, while attracting new energy in promoting international cooperation and expanding the global network among art institutions. \nOur Partner: \nMekong Cultural Hub (MCH)\, MCH’ s mission is to empower diverse cultural practitioners to bring their visions for an inclusive\, sustainable Mekong Region to life. Since 2018\, we have connected more than 150 practitioners from the region for professional exchange\, co-creation and collaboration. \nMCH works with people whose own work is at the intersection of arts and society. We initiate projects and work on collaborations all around Asia. Our priority focus countries are Cambodia\, Laos\, Myanmar\, Taiwan\, Thailand and Vietnam. \nIts aim is to develop and connect resources and experience from across the region\, building bridges and creating spaces for reflection and innovation so emerging artists and arts leaders can collectively create\, influence\, and transform the contexts in which they are living and working. \nHost for the Program: \nHyper Wave (Yilan 宜蘭)\, which is Located in the center of Luodong City\, Wave Space is the first contemporary art exhibition and residency space in Yilan. They hope to inject more art and cultural energy\, open up Yilan’s international connections\, and bring in outstanding artists from home and abroad so that more people will recognize Yilan’s Luodong’s unique humanistic flavor. The art group ‘Hyper Wave’ began with artists selected by the Ministry of Culture’s 2020 ‘MIT’ project. The name originates from the mutation and uncertainty of contemporary art\, positioning themselves as artistic ronin. SUMMARY:Call for Volunteers Asia Pacific Feminist Forum (APFF) 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Asia Pacific Forum on Women\, Law and Development (APWLD) is currently inviting women\, transgender\, and non-binary persons with a commitment to feminist movement-building and capacity to work in a demanding and energetic Secretariat (based in Chiang Mai\, Thailand) in a voluntary role in August and September 2024. \nSince 2011\, the APFF has been organised by APWLD as a tri-annual event which brings together feminists\, activists\, and WHRDs from all regions of Asia and the Pacific\, to participate in a three-day feminist convening. In those three days\, feminists come together to celebrate our collective achievements\, deepen feminist knowledge\, and strengthen our linkages and solidarities with each other. \nThe fourth APFF will be taking place from 12-14th September 2024 at the Empress Convention Center in Chiang Mai\, Thailand. Volunteers will work with APWLD staff to deliver the forum. \nAPWLD is a regional network of women’s organisations and activists in Asia Pacific\, committed to building feminist movements and advancing women’s rights. \nWho can apply \nDue to the nature of the work\, this call for volunteers is open for candidates based in Chiang Mai\, Thailand with proficiency in English; proficiency in Thai is desired but not mandatory. Applicants outside of Chiang Mai are eligible to apply\, if they are able to fund their own travel to and accommodation and living expenses in Chiang Mai for the duration of their role. \nDuration  \nVolunteers will be expected to attend two days of induction\, on Saturday\, 31st August\, and Saturday\, 7th September. Both induction sessions will run from 9am-1pm. Refreshments and lunch will be provided on both days. \nVolunteers are expected to support all 3 days of the APFF\, i.e. 12th-14th September. Volunteers may opt to volunteer for half days\, but must specify their availability in the application form. \nKey Tasks and Responsibilities \nWe are recruiting for the following voluntary positions: \nRegistration and Logistics: The registration and Logistics volunteers will: \nSupport the registration process at the registration desk\, by ensuring participants have signed the daily attendance\, give out swag bags\, direct self-funded participants to the registration fee desk\, and any other tasks for registration and application processing. \nUnder supervision from the admin team\, provide support to participants at the Secretariat desk at the venue\, and connect them with relevant venue or APWLD staff as needed. \nProvide support to workshop facilitators and speakers\, side-event vendors and facilitators as needed\, and  coordinate with Secretariat Desk for any major problems.  \nProvide translation support where appropriate and possible. \nRunners: These volunteers will: \nHelp participants get to different breakout rooms and floors and direct them to signage if the participant wants to go back to the hotel building. \nSupport participants with a disability in their accessibility needs and coordinate with hotel staff as needed. \nMedia Volunteers: The media volunteers (film and photography) will: \nUnder supervision from the InfoComms team\, create live and candid content to upload in a shared Google Drive\, for the InfoComms team to share through social media. \nSupport comms consultants and media partners as needed. \nOther tasks as directed by InfoComms. \nChildcare Space: These volunteers will: \nBe the point of coordination between the nursing staff and Secretariat Desk for any issues that may arise. \nSupport the nursing staff with keeping track of children left in childcare\, and ensuring they are only handed over to their recorded guardians. \nKeep track of any supplies required in the space such as sanitary materials\, snacks\, etc. \nOther tasks as directed by APWLD. \nSelection Criteria\n\n\n\nThe APFF Volunteer Programme is for women\, transgender\, and non-binary persons who are feminists\, activists\, and students interested in gaining a conceptual understanding of how women’s human rights issues intersect with different forms of oppression specifically in Asia and the Pacific. \nApplicants must be aged 18 years and above.\nApplicants must be able to commit to spending 3 full days at the APFF as a volunteer. \nApplicants who have obtained or are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in law\, social sciences\, or a related field; and activists or development practitioners with a strong background and involvement in human rights and/or women’s movements\, are both eligible to apply.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills in English and Thai. Ability to communicate in other languages across Asia and the Pacific are an advantage but not required.\nDemonstrable ability to work within a diverse\, multicultural team in a fast-paced environment. \nExperience with managing or  coordinating events and programmes is an advantage\, but not a requirement.\n\n\n\n\nFor media volunteers: Applicants with knowledge and/or experience with event photography and videography will be prioritised.\nFor Childcare Space: This role is open to students enrolled in family and health sciences programme; and activists or licensed professionals with experience working with children (such as teaching\, healthcare\, etc.).\n\nHow to apply\nIf you are interested in applying as an APFF Volunteer please fill out this application form.
