Cross-border investments and impacts are essential topics to discuss and tackle for hydropower development in the Mekong basin. What are the opportunities and challenges to ensure the voices and rights of riparian people are respected and protected? Despite growing commitments by developers and financiers to sustainability and human rights, challenges remain to hold them to account and ensure meaningful remedies for affected communities. Join us to discuss different pathways to strengthen cross-border accountability and the rights of communities.

In collaboration with International Rivers, Extraterritorial Obligation Watch Coalition (ETO Watch), Fair Finance Thailand, Mekong-ASEAN Environmental Week (MAEW), SEAJunction hosted an event titled “Protecting People’s rights across borders:Hydropower and investors in the Mekong on 23 September 2022 at SEAJunction (4th Floor, Bangkok Art and Culture Center.
