GET A BOOK, SUPPORT SEA JUNCTION! Once a month, SEA Junction holds a mini book fair focusing on Southeast Asia. On 18 August at 5PM, SEA Junction will screen #BKKY, a drama and documentary on Bangkok youth. The film is based on interviews of 100 Thai teenagers of diverse gender identity and sexual orientation, who are transitioning from high school to university. In the interviews, they frankly discuss about their experiences, personal life, and growing up in Bangkok. Thailand is home to an estimated 3 million migrants of whom about 400,000 are thought to be children. As migration flows increase and so does the length of their stay, the number of migrant children born in Thailand also augments. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) over 1,300 births have been registered since the opening of a legal clinic at Mae Sot Hospital in April 2016 to provide birth registration, needs assessment and case planning for non-Thai children.…
