Promoting Indonesian Culture through Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship

Jakarta, Indonesia – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia officially opens the registration for Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship, known as Beasiswa Seni dan Budaya Indonesia. This program offers the chance for Indonesian and foreign youths age 21-27 to study Indonesian cultural heritage as well as immersing oneself with the local art communities in Bali, West Sumatra, East Kalimantan, East Java, Sulawesi or Jogjakarta.
IACS’s application for Indonesian applicants should be received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the latest February 28th, 2020 while for foreign applicants February 14th, 2020 by the Indonesian representative in each respective country. IACS will commence for 3 (three) months, since May 2nd – August 20th, 2020. On August 13th, 2020 all awardees shall perform in an arts and cultural night entitled “Indonesian Channel” marking the closing of the scholarship program.
The Ministry has consistently been organizing IACS since 2003 giving intense cultural experience to 920 alumni from 77 countries. The alumni studied unique local arts in the region in which they are assigned to. For those who were stationed in East Java, they studied the history, process and the making of batik, as well as traditional Javanese dance. For those assigned to Bali, they learned Balinese dance, Balinese gamelan instruments, and also Balinese crafts. The alumni have become Indonesian arts and culture ambassadors wherever they go.
