Fundraising Night – Celebrating resilience: sounds, images, poetry and tastes of Myanmar
Ahead of the one-year anniversary of the Feb. 1 coup in Myanmar, the FCCT is hosting a gathering of photographic, musical, literary and culinary talent in collaboration with SEA Junction. Join us for the launch of a photographic exhibition, “Women Out On the Streets For a New Burma” (courtesy of SEA Junction) and readings by Ma Thida and Ko Ko Thett from a new anthology of protest poetry and essays: “Picking Off New Shoots Will Not Stop the Spring.”
We will be joined by the talented musicians of the Co-Culture Ensemble who will play traditional and modern Burmese music, and Miss Lunatics, chefs of the Myanmar Media Exile Hub, who will be serving their famous mohinga noodle soup and other offerings for reasonable prices.
Prints of the powerful photographic images on exhibit from 24 January to 11 February, mounted on foam backing, ready to hang, will be available for reprint and sale.
A majority share of the proceeds of this evening will go to the FCCT’s Myanmar Media Support Fund. If you can’t make it to the event, please consider donating.
