Dear Partners and Friends of SEA Junction,

This month started with something very innovative and creative, embarking on a public art project. We are working with Myanmar artist Chuu Wai to realise a mural themed on migration in the midst of Bangkok in partnership with the Ship to Shore program of the ILO, with funding from the European Union. After workshops with migrant and artist communities, the actual creation will start as a collective process and hopefully be ready for all to see around 23 May.

Another major initiative is an exhibition by photographer Sayan Chuenudomsavad, organized by SEA Junction in partnership with Bangkok Tribune, that brings to light the pressing environmental issues of today and the ecocide that is occurring in Thailand. Another dimension of Thailand is featured in the launch of Edoardo Saini’s book on the interconnectedness between cosmic belief and everyday politics.

The #WhatshappeninginMyanmar Update and the Monthly Mini Book Fair will continue to enrich our program as usual.

We hope you find our programs of interest. We count on your participation and help in sharing this information with your network and hope in your support (see below), particularly at this time when civic spaces and resources for civil society are curtailed all over the world.

Warmly,
Lia Sciortino Sumaryono
