Workshop date: 7-11 February 2024 at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University
RCSD The Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development invites applications for a five-day capacity-building workshop on Forced Displacement in Southeast Asia, taking place from 7-11 February 2024 at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University. The application deadline is 10 January 2024.
This workshop targets 15-20 young scholars and researchers from Southeast Asia countries interested in studying and addressing forced displacement issues. Participants will engage in critical analysis, case studies, and policy discussions on the causes and impacts of forced displacement, particularly focusing on conflicts, climate change, and development projects in the region. The workshop aims to foster a deeper understanding of the phenomenon and its manifestations.
Eligible applicants must be nationals of Southeast Asia countries, possess workable English communication skills, and be young or mid-career researchers, development practitioners, policy-makers, or graduate students in social sciences and humanities. RCSD will provide meals and refreshments during the workshop, and for those outside Chiang Mai, minimal funding support will cover accommodation, field trip expenses, and travel costs. Interested individuals should submit an online application form, a curriculum vitae, and a 1-2 page essay explaining their interest in forced displacement and expectations from the workshop to rcsd@cmu.ac.th by the specified deadline.
