About the Exhibition
Fragments of Myanmar is a photographic portraying the lives of Myanmar migrants in Thailand, the struggle for democracy and the role of women in the spring revolution, and the devastating impact of the recent earthquake. Through selected photographs from the exhibitions SEA Junction has held in the course of the last 5 years, the exhibition traces diverse journeys shaped by political and economic crises and acts of resilience and survival.
About the Conference
This fifth convening of the International Conference of Burma/Myanmar Studies marks a decade of fostering academic dialogue and debate on Myanmar studies, with a focused commitment to highlighting and amplifying the voices of Myanmar scholars from within the country and Southeast Asia.
First started in 2015, the International Conference on Burma/Myanmar Studies (ICBMS) brings together scholars, researchers, and civil society practitioners to examine the social, political, and environmental transformations shaping Myanmar and its communities.
Organizer
The Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD) was established as an academic unit under the Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University in 1998. Over the past decade, RCSD has focused its main interest on social transformation processes in the broader framework of increasing regional connectivity in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) by highlighting a number of key issues in the region, such as land governance, transboundary resource management, exploitation of nature and cross-border mobility.
