Meet the Photographer: Yoonki Kim Photography Workshop

As part of the exhibition, photographer of the “Life Stories of Klong Toey” Exhibition, Yoonki Kim, will be hosting a photography workshop & talk session on the last weekend of the exhibition. Join us for a 2-hour technical workshop on film camera and talks on archiving photographs, inspiration behind this project and more on Saturday, 14th March 2026 from 4.00 – 6.00 pm at SEA Junction.

The Photography Exhibition “Life Stories of Klong Toey” is a result of meticulous work of over two decades in chronologically recording the lives and daily challenges of the people in Klong Toey Community by Korean photographer, Yoonki Kim. Celebrating two decades of work, the exhibition returns to BACC. Organized by SEA Junction, the 20th Anniversary of the “70 Rai Project” displayed the stories of lives of 7 people from the Klong Toey community over the past two decades. These photo invites visitors to confront with the lived realities and resiliency of people from Klong Toey community. The Photograph Exhibition “Life Stories of Klong Toey” is on view from 3 – 15 March 2026 at the Curved Wall, 4th Floor of the BACC.

Photographer Short Bio

Kim Yoonki was born in 1955 and was raised and lived in Seoul until 1994 when he settled in Bangkok. He is a self-taught photographer who has started the 70Rai project in an underprivileged area of Khlong Toey, Bangkok in January 2006. Every week he visits the area and takes pictures using only black and white films of the people and the community and donate the prints to them.  He is also making a website with the archive of all the photos taken ensuring access for the people of Klong Toey.
