Screening of “My Mother’s Tongue” & Creative Workshop by Jean-Baptiste Phou
25 March, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
A short film “My Mother’s Tongue” by French-Cambodian artist Jean-Baptiste Phou will be screened and followed with a creative workshop on 25 March 2023, 1-3 pm at SEA Junction. The film, in French with English and Thai subtitles, explores the delicate relationship between a mother and son who don’t speak the same language, until something unlocks when she suddenly falls very ill. The emotional journey unfolds through a series of vignettes that draw the viewer deeper into the inner world of a son seeking understanding and to be understood. The workshop will revolve around the film’s themes: broken relationships, parent-child relationships, grief, and so on. Participants will be guided to write a letter and record its content into the digital artwork. The session will be conducted in English but Thai interpretation can be made available.
Limited seats available, please register at https://bit.ly/25MAR2023
