SEASIA Biennial Conference 2019

The theme of the SEASIA Conference 2019 is “Change and Resistance: Future Directions of Southeast Asia.” Through interdisciplinary, transnational, trans-regional dialogue and brainstorming, we will be able to examine Southeast Asia’s changes and resistance in the past and present, highlighting Southeast Asia’s role and capacity in Asia, the Indo-Pacific and the world. The SEASIA Conference 2019 will focus on several key questions: On the past and current images of Southeast Asia integration, what impacts will it have on countries, societies and individuals? How will the calls for reform in the political development drive countries forward? How will inclusive growth in the economic sector benefit civil societies? In the socio-culture field, how will the rise and deepening of transnationalism helps create a new social connectivity, and how can mutual understanding between peoples be translated into community consciousness and sense of identity?
