Two-days orientation on Southeast Asia for SSEAYP 2016
29 September, 2016 @ 10:30 am - 30 September, 2016 @ 12:30 pm
SEA Junction will provide a two-days orientation to a group of Thai youth selected to participate in the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) 2016.
The 42-year SSEAYP aims to promote friendship and mutual understanding among the youths of Japan and the ten Southeast Asian countries, to broaden their perspectives and to strengthen their spirit of cooperation. To achieve this objective, participants live together on a ship for two months traveling across Southeast Asian countries, introducing their culture to one another and participating in discussions and various exchange activities both onboard and in the countries visited.
The orientation aims to prepare the Thai participants so as to make the most of this enriching experience from the very start, equipping them with some basic understanding of Southeast Asia and the ongoing regionalization processes. Rosalia Sciortino, founder and executive director of SEA Junction, will introduce the countries of the region and their socio-economic, political and cultural dimensions and development specialist Apichai Sunchindah will give an introduction to ASEAN and its goals and mechanisms.
