Youth for Peace (YFP) Training Workshop
December 20 @ 8:00 am - December 22 @ 5:00 pm
Introduction
Asia is unique in its rich and diverse cultures, religions, natural and human resources. Unfortunately, vast majority of the people still live under poverty line. Communal violence, suppression and deprivation of ethnic and religious minorities, arms race, war and conflict dashed the hope and aspirations for a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous Asian unity. Part of it, due to colonial legacy and globalization process but part of it is our own making. Incompetent, corrupt governance, criminalization of politics, gender discrimination and misinterpretation of religious teachings are in many ways responsible for this situation. A movement for peace and sustainable development in the region requires a new generation of peace activists and development workers.
Youth have been always frontline fighters for change. Today’s youth are many ways deprived from opportunities and support. In order to see a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous world, youth can play very important and positive role. International Institute of Peace and Development Studies (IIPDS) in cooperation with ARF – AMAN has been organizing Youth for Peace Training Workshop in South, South East Asia and the Middle East since 2004.
