Job title: Librarian (Part Time)
Work schedule: 2 days a week
Expected start date: October 2021 (depending on the reopening of BACC)
SEA Junction (or fully “Southeast Asia Junction”) is a knowledge center and public venue on Southeast Asia, which is located at the Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre (BACC) in Bangkok. SEA Junction aims to foster understanding and appreciation of the region in all its realities and socio-cultural dimensions –from arts and craft to the economy and development– by enhancing public access to knowledge resources and by promoting exchanges (see further www.seajunction.org).
The library collection of SEA Junction consists of about 4,000 books on the various countries of Southeast Asia. While a large portion of the books has been catalogued, there is a need to review the system and the entries (both in xl and in the e-library); to complete the labeling and cataloguing of the remaining books; and input in the system the new acquisitions.
The successful applicant will be expected to:
- Improve and manage SEA Junction library (catalogue and label books, write abstracts, and upload book information in the OpenBiblio e-library system)
- Review books for the special section on the website
- Ensure the day to day running of the library as a meeting space
- Assist in SEA Junction activities as needed
The candidate should have the following skills & experience:
- Degree in library science and/or proven experience working in small/public library
- Fluent in English language skills, especially reading and writing
- Computer skills and knowledge of library databases
- Interest in Southeast Asia and in the non-profit sector
- Ability to work autonomously in a multi-cultural environment
- Patience and attention for details
- Thai nationality or resident of Thailand
