This policy brief is an outcome of the previous international conference entitled “Weaving the Threads of Migration, Sustainable Development and The Pandemic” held by The Asian Research Center for Migration (ARCM) at the Institute of Asian Studies (IAS), Chulalongkorn University on the 17th December 2020 celebrating International Migrants Day.
The 2020’s year theme examined the impacts of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic on migration, mobility, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Thailand, ASEAN and beyond. The conference was held in virtual format via Zoom while the panels were held on-site in the Social Innovation Hub, Chulalongkorn University.
SEA Junction’s Founder & Executive Director, Dr. Rosalia Sciortino shared a presentation on “New” or “Better” Normal for Migrants in ASEAN? as a part of Panel 3: Migrant’s Experiences and Situation Update from Origin Countries. This policy brief reflected the discussion from this and other panels of the conference that included Covid-19, (Im)mobility and Responsive Policies for Labour Migration; The Status of Children During and Post-Pandemic; Lessons from the Pandemic: The Future of Work and Sustainable Development; and Post Covid-19, Resilience and Safe Cities.
