Biography:
Christian Oliver A. Cruz (Rev Cruz) (b. December 2, 1976 in Manila, Philippines) has illustrated a number of children’s books and is a member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (AngInK) and Urban Sketchers Manila (USK Manila) and Quezon City (USK QC). He was awarded Grand Prize in the 2018 PBBY Wordless Picture Book Award, Honorable Mention in the 2017 and 2009 PBBY Alcala Prize, and 2nd place in the 3rd Philippine Graphic Fiction People’s Choice Awards. He has created Vitroprint stained-glass designs and branding/graphic design work for several institutions. Aside from his creative interests, Rev teaches creative art and writing to children and is a professional physical therapist specializing in ergonomics and aquatherapy working mainly with special children. A self-taught artist, he is driven to learn and research in vast fields of art and science and enjoys observational art which informs the maximalist and eclectic style in most of his artwork. He is currently working on a number of picture books and comic titles.
