Dear Partners and Friends of SEA Junction,

Two months have passed since the recent 7.7-magnitude earthquake on March 28, 2025, but impacts are still felt in Myanmar. The photo exhibition held with Platform 36 has shown that more needs to be done to inform the public in Thailand about the situation across the border. We are grateful to the many media who have covered the event and helped us to reach a greater audience. We will inform on the donations collected and their allocation soon. In the meantime, to contribute to community efforts in the earthquake-struck locations in Myanmar we are dedicating this year Small Grant Program to Myanmar with the “Staying Resilient Amidst Multiple Crises in Earthquake-Struck Myanmar”. We hope you will help us share the information to relevant networks and continue to follow our monthly updates on Myanmar.

June is Pride month, and as preparations are in full swing, we celebrate the core principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (Yes, we still believe in DEI!) With the launch of a graphic children’s book by a Thai designer and a book discussion on health equity in Southeast Asia. Our Mini Book and Craft Fair will continue as usual, with many new and old books and crafts on offer.

We hope you will continue to find our program of interest. We count on your participation and help in sharing the information about our programs with your network and hope in your support (see below). SEA Junction relies on community members like you to be able to maintain our venue and continue our work at a time when civic spaces and resources for civil society are curtailed all over the world.

Warmly,
Lia Sciortino Sumaryono
PLEASE consider a donation to support our activities! To donate is easy. Deadline: Submit your proposal to info@seajunction.org by 30 May 2025

SEA Junction is dedicating the fifth round of its small grant program in collaboration with CMB Foundation to community and civil society recovery activities in the disaster areas in Myanmar. The 2025 “Staying Resilient Amidst Multiple Crisis in the Earthquake-Struck Myanmar” provides small grants for an average of USD 2,000 selected groups and individuals for activities ranging from advocacy and documentation to building social capital, strengthening community resilience, and improving the living and health conditions of local communities. As the application, selection and disbursement time will take at least 3 months, this program is for longer term response, not for immediate relief.
