Dear Partners and Friends of SEA Junction,
This October agenda is full of a variety of programs, of which the two main ones are exhibitions. The first, “Not Just Labor, Migrant Photo Voices from Thailand’s Fisheries” is currently being exposed for the second time at the BACC Pop-Up site at SEACON Srinakarin. The second, “Cartooning the ASEAN Way of Non-Interference and Consensus” to be held at BACC towards the end of the month, is a unique exhibition exploring the role of ASEAN through comics and cartoons by artists in the region. Other activities consist of a workshop on Indonesian batik ornaments and on how to search for the extensive batik collection in Dutch archives, and a panel discussion on art and power dynamics with artists from the region in collaboration with the Bangkok Art Biennale (BAB) and the Embassy of the Netherlands.
As usual, we continue to carry on our regular activities with the monthly Mini Book and Craft Fair and the monthly #WhatsHappening in Myanmar Updates.
We hope you will continue to find our program of interest. We count on your participation and help in sharing the information about our programs with your network. And, if you would like to support us, please click on the donation box below, or if you are in Thailand just scan the QR code!

EVENT PROGRAM
Photo Exhibition “Not Just Labor; Migrant Photo Voices from Thailand’s Fisheries”
Exhibition: 28 September – 27 October 2024, 11 am – 7 pm, BACC pop•up, Gallery 1 at MMAD, 3rd floor, Seacon Square Srinakarin
The exhibition organized by SEA Junction with the support of the International Labour Organization (ILO)’s Ship to Shore Rights South East Asia initiative funded by the European Union was first exhibited at BACC last May. It will again be exhibited at SEACON Square Srinakarin as part of BACC Pop-Up activities. The display consists of photos taken on mobile phones by migrants from Cambodia and Myanmar, who are now living in Phuket, Phang Nga, and Chantaburi to work in the fishing and seafood industry. The message the photostories and the exhibition convey is that migrants are more than just labor and more than the sum of the difficulties and exploitation endured.
