Mini Exhibition “In Nature We Trust: World Within Wardrobe”
9 August, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 13 August, 2023 @ 7:00 pm
The mini exhibition “In Nature We Trust: World Within Wardrobe” will feature present a select collection of artworks by Intan Anggita Pratiwie, a talented artist from Indonesia. This exhibition is an extension of her thought-provoking book with the same title, which delves into the fascinating realm of sustainable fashion and the conscious dressing-up culture. Following its successful showcase in Japan, as part of her Asia Tour, the exhibition is now making its way to Thailand with a special theme centered around natural dying from Indonesia. The mini exhibition will be on display from 9 to 13 August 2023 at SEA Junction on the 4th floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). Exclusively, the artist will be present to meet, greet, and engage in friendly conversations from 9 to 11 August, between 4 to 7 pm.
In conjunction with the mini exhibition, a book discussion will take place on 12 August from 5.00-6.30 pm. Intan’s book, “World Within Wardrobe,” dissects the meanings and concepts behind each word. “World” is about the beginning of how humans are introduced to clothes and how fashion exists. “Within” is the discussion regarding the meaning of a piece of clothing, while “Wardrobe” regards the attachment to all kinds of items inside, and about how can we find solutions to extend the lifespan of different clothes. In other words, the discussion is built through ontology, epistemology, and axiology, spread into three different parts.
Furthermore, on 13 August from 1-4 pm, Intan will be hosting an engaging workshop focused on upcycling old clothes through natural dyeing and mindful hand stitching. This workshop aims to promote sustainable fashion choices and empower individuals to contribute positively to the environment through their fashion practices. The workshop fee is 250 baht, and participants are kindly requested to bring their own old clothes to take part in this creative and sustainable process. We encourage making reservations by contacting us through any channel, as it helps us keep track of the number of workshop participants.
