Conference Information
We are delighted to announce the 2027 SEAMEO SPAFA International Conference on Southeast Asian Archaeology and Fine Arts (SPAFACON2027), scheduled for 14-16 June 2027 (excluding excursions and side events) in Bangkok, Thailand. SPAFACON stands as the premier academic conference for the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts dedicated to the dissemination and enhancement of archaeological knowledge, fine arts and the rich cultural heritage of Southeast Asia.
We warmly invite scholars, researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts to submit session proposals that explore the latest advancements and findings in Southeast Asian archaeology, cultural heritage, and fine arts (encompassing both performing and visual arts). We are particularly interested in submissions that promote interdisciplinary conversations, bridging experts and aficionados from diverse fields across the region.
Session conveners will be responsible for soliciting papers to be presented within their designated sessions, liaising between the speakers and the conference organisers and the efficient running of the session within the allotted time.
Proposal Guidelines:
- Title and Abstract: Proposals should feature a session title and an abstract ranging from 150-300 words. The abstract should detail the session’s theme, its overarching purpose, objectives, and, if available, a preliminary list of speakers.
- Convener Details: Kindly provide the full name, a concise bio, affiliation, and contact information of the session convener.
- Convener Limitations: An individual may only act as the primary convener for one session. However, they are permitted to serve as a co-convener in other sessions. This ensures diverse leadership and representation across all sessions.
- Assessment Criteria: Proposals will be evaluated based on disciplinary and geographic distribution. Conveners of proposals with overlapping themes or content may be approached to consider merging their sessions for a more comprehensive presentation.
- Submission: All proposals must be submitted online no later than 31 July 2026
