SEA Junction screened a new documentary “Thabyay”: Creative Resistance in Myanmar, directed by Jeanne Hallacy. This screening shed light on Myanmar’s ongoing people-power revolution through the stories of four leaders navigating the difficult choices between armed resistance and the path of non-violence. The film captured their struggles, hopes, and the powerful role of art, music, and poetry as tools of “artivism” in the fight for a peaceful, democratic, and inclusive future for all people in Myanmar. Questioning happens when non-violent leaders are pushed to support armed struggle against a brutal regime in a forgotten war?
