Among the cultural treasures of Southeast Asia, reverse glass paintings are still relatively unknown to the art community and the general public. The technique — where an image is painted onto glass to be viewed from the other side — originated in medieval Europe before spreading to India and China and then to selected countries in Southeast Asia through trade routes, but much still remain to be researched.
