Images of daily health difficulty of cross-border population in Mae Sot, Tak province, Thailand

 
Brief Description

The photographs portray the daily risks, burdens and hardships of cross-border populations in accessing health services, their vulnerability of women and children to malaria and other tropical diseases. Exhibited at the corner space, 1st floor of BACC on 15-27 October with a collaboration from Mahidol Oxford Research Unit (MORU) and Shoklo-Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) under the support of Wellcome Trust Fund, the photographs also show the communities’ resilience in confronting health challenges and the importance of involving them in efforts to improve their health condition.

About the photographers

Suphak Nosten is a Senior Advisor, SMRU, based in Maesot, Tak province, Thailand and a member of the Malaria Elimination Task Force program (METF). She is an official photographer of SMRU who has taken photographs for the “Our Voices” exhibition.
